New Demonstration Facility Opens at Fujitsu Laboratories of Europe

Hayes HQ equips permanent demonstration suite to showcase leading edge Fujitsu technologies

Fujitu Demonstration SuiteLondon, UK, 26th January 2010 — Fujitsu Laboratories of Europe Limited has announced the opening of a new demonstration facility at its UK headquarters, just outside London in Hayes. Incorporating a range of leading-edge demonstrations, the new suite is conceived as a permanent showcase for Fujitsu Laboratories' innovative technologies. It incorporates many of the 20+ technologies on show at the recent European Technology Forum, which took place in September 2009 and attracted over 250 delegates.

Fujitsu Laboratories of Europe's current theme is one of "Contributing to Business Growth". This involves focusing on technologies and innovations that promote a greener, sustainable society, such as the recent launch of Fujitsu's Total CO2 and Value Analysis solution, enabling a holistic analysis of energy usage within a data centre environment to be captured, quantitatively analysed and profiled. This is the result of extensive research and development, in conjunction with the Carbon Trust in the UK, the company set up by the UK Government to accelerate the move to a low carbon economy.

Deputy Managing Director, Dr Adel Rouz, elaborates:
"Our research and development initiatives are targeted at solving real-world business issues, with the objective of improving efficiencies, reducing costs, and evolving solutions to achieve a greener, more energy efficient world. The new demonstration facility is an important resource, enabling us to provide year-round access to some of our most exciting and advanced solutions – for customers, and for account managers from within the Fujitsu group. The result of a substantial investment, the demonstration suite will complement our annual European Technology Forum, helping us to harmonise our R&D efforts and assisting the collaborative process of turning concepts into practical business-oriented solutions."

The Fujitsu Laboratories of Europe Demonstration Facility is opening with a broad cross-section of exhibits, including:

  • Sensing Solution for Healthcare, an integrated sensor system that provides monitoring plus automatic change detection and notification of a person's health in their own home
  • Electronic and Paper Encryption, the world's first encryption technology for electronic and paper documents, capable of encrypting sensitive areas on a document and decrypting hidden information
  • Secure Data with USB Memory Device, preventing the unwanted disclosure of data from lost USB memory devices - involving time-defined automatic data erasure, and file redirect technology to ensure sensitive data can only be copied to a specified server location
  • Green Data Centre Solution, visualising and interpreting the energy flow through large facilities, and enabling efficiency measures to be modelled and implemented
  • Smart Networks - demonstrating a range of Fujitsu's advanced technologies designed to deliver service agility and innovation, across online data migration, business process visualisation, server provisioning, and intelligent infrastructure management
  • Video Analysis & Retrieval Solution, enabling huge volumes of stored video archives to be rapidly retrieved and analysed, focusing on broadcast and programme-making applications
  • Mail Filtering and Data Loss Prevention Solution, preventing data loss from e-mail, including outbound e-mail checker, contents-based filtering, and e-mail network analysis and visualisation
  • Video Data Integrity Assurance, ensuring that complete data integrity is maintained for recorded digital evidence, even when parts have been extracted for privacy reasons
  • Cloud Computing High-Speed Data Transfer, demonstrating the revolutionary high-speed data transfer software - BI.DANGUN - that overcomes the challenges of data transfer across long distance networks
  • High-Performance Computing (HPC) applications - demonstrated on Fujitsu’s next-generation massively parallel computers, targeted at strategic areas such as the development of new low-carbon sources of energy, mitigation and adaptation strategies for climate change, and revolutionary preventive and personalised models for delivering healthcare.
