Kazou Murano, President, Fujitsu Laboratories LtdLooking Back on The European Technology Forum 2009

I am delighted to report that this year's European Technology Forum, which took place during September in London, was the most successful in the event's four-year history.

Over two days, an invited audience of some 250 Fujitsu customers and company members attended the annual European Technology Forum, which focuses on the concept of technologies and innovation that contribute to business growth. This is a central tenet of Fujitsu Laboratories' philosophy, as we work to fulfil our responsibility to evolve dynamic ideas into practical, efficient and responsible business solutions that also deliver substantial cost reductions. On this website, you will find more detailed information about the themes around which this year's event was based, as well as an introduction to over 20 of our latest innovations that were on show.

The European Technology Forum represents an important avenue for achieving this objective and is principally about sharing ideas - bringing technology and business together to enable a harmonised R&D roadmap for the future. The event has grown each year, enabling us to fine-tune our technologies to ensure they will deliver the services required by our enterprise customers across a significant time span.

Fujitsu Laboratories' Vision

Fujitsu Laboratories has a long history of innovation, driven by its objective of being a model research laboratory that is closely in tune with society's challenges and opportunities. As the 21st century unfolds, we are increasingly aware of the need to deliver new value and solutions - not just to customers, but to society as a whole. This builds dynamically from the traditional 20th century view of a research laboratory as a source of inventions, based principally on the merged disciplines of science and engineering. I therefore believe that in addition to science and technology, business models and social responsibility form equally important elements in today's corporate research and development programmes. We are working towards a safer and more secure society in the future, underpinned by the core values of corporate social responsibility, protection of the global environment and a sustainable, reliable social infrastructure. These are the guiding principles of Fujitsu's corporate R&D activities.

I would like to thank everyone that joined us at this year's European Technology Forum, and for their contribution in helping to shape new technologies that will deliver a better, safer and more rewarding networked society that can fulfil people's dreams. We look forward to sharing our latest technologies and future vision with you in 2010.
